A widespread and common species that is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore assessed as Least Concern.

Range
It is known from coastal areas from Velddrif on the West Coast southwards to the Cape Peninsula and eastwards as far as Kentani in the Eastern Cape. It also occurs further inland around Worcester, Oudtshoorn and in the Baviaanskloof.

Description
Plants grow in dunes and in dune strandveld along the coast, inland it is found on gravelly slopes in succulent karoo and xeric thicket.
Threats
This species is threatened by development in parts of the range, especially along the West Coast, around Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London.
Population

A very common species, often dominant in suitable habitat.
