Justification
EOO 360 km², total population estimated as <5000 mature individuals, based on surveys of 14 sites in the Olifants and Steelpoort River valleys. Not affected by mining or grazing, and not declining.

Description
Mixed bushveld, occurs on dolomitic and ironstone ridges, 600-700 m.
Threats
Occurs in an area that is mainly utilized as communal rangelands, with a few old mining sites. However, this species occurs on dolomite, which is generally not affected by mining - mining sites tend to be on mineral rich norite. This large spiny shrub is also unlikely to be negatively affected by grazing and trampling.
Population

Most populations visited had between 200-250 individuals, with a few populations having only between 50-75 individuals.
