Justification
This species is a rare and range-restricted species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2646 km². It is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants, and requires monitoring.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
It has a disjunct distribution in the Western Cape, where it occurs on the Cape Peninsula and in the mountains around Elim.

Description
It occurs on lower sandstone slopes near the coast.
Threats
Historically, this species has lost habitat to urban expansion on the Cape Peninsula. Most of its remaining habitat is however now protected, and habitat loss is no longer a significant threat. In the mountains inland of Pearly Beach it is threatened by competition from alien invasive plants. The Cape Peninsula was formerly infested with alien invasive plants, but there were extensive clearing efforts in the early 2000s. Reinvasion however remains a potential threat, as invasive species are able to regenerate from soil-stored seed banks.
