This species is very poorly known, but occurs in mountainous habitat where it is not suspected to be threatened.

Notes
This species is rarely collected and very poorly known, but it is suspected to be merely overlooked, rather than threatened. The genus Wahlenbergia in South Africa has not been revised, and identification of Wahlenbergia species is very difficult.
