Justification
The genus Wahlenbergia is poorly understood and in need of taxonomic revision. Manning and Goldblatt (2012) indicate that this species possibly does not warrant recognition as a separate taxon. Until taxonomically resolved, this species' risk of extinction cannot be assessed.
