Justification
Wahlenbergia longifolia has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 14 914 km². Plants at 10-15 remaining locations continue to decline due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation, as well as competition from alien invasive plants. It is listed as Near Threatened under criterion B.

Description
It occurs in coastal sandy and limestone flats.
Threats
Wahlenbergia longifolia has declined extensively due to habitat loss to urban expansion on the Cape Flats, where only a few isolated subpopulations now remain, and habitat loss to urban expansion is ongoing. Further north towards Hopefield, it has lost most of its habitat to crop cultivation, and remaining areas of sand plain fynbos are densely infested with alien invasive plants. Habitat loss to development continues. Along the coast between Betty's Bay and De Hoop, it is declining due to ongoing habitat loss to coastal development. Subpopulations on the Agulhas Plain and around Stanford are also threatened by dense, unmanaged infestations of alien invasive plants.
