Wahlenbergia tenerrima is a widespread species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 182 323 km². It has no severe threats, and is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
It occurs on rocky slopes and shallow gravelly soil in fynbos, succulent karoo, nama karoo and thicket.
