A widespread and common species. Although threatened in places, it is not yet in danger of extinction.

Description
Dune forest and coastal scrub.
Threats
This species has lost habitat to coastal development and urban expansion in the past, but there is no severe ongoing habitat loss as forests are protected - land cover changes between 1990 and 2014 show very little forest loss. Some of its habitat is infested with alien invasive plants, which are outcompeting native species.
