Justification
This range restricted, Eastern Cape species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 228 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 12 km². With only three locations and threats that could potentially push the species into a higher threatened categories in the future. It is listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.
Distribution

Provincial distribution
Eastern Cape, Limpopo
Range
This species is endemic to the Eastern Cape province, known from Cala Pass and Hackney Dam near Whittlesea.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
Queenstown Thornveld, Tsomo Grassland, Amathole Montane Grassland
Description
It grows on massive exposed dolerite sill in moist upland grassland and sandstone outcrops, at altitudes between 1400-1600 m.a.s.l.
Threats
Livestock trampling poses a threat to this species in both of its localities. Fieldwork in Cala also revealed that it is commonly known as Intelezi, which is a Xhosa term for cultural protective charm, and the leaves are used for this purpose. If this claim is proven, the already small and isolated Cala subpopulation will be severely impacted, potentially leading to the species rapid decline.
Population

This species is distributed in small, localized clumps. It is naturally rare, the population trend is inferred to be stable.
